Description
ACE PREP COURSE - Students will gain knowledge and understanding necessary to prepare for the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam and become effective personal trainers. This course is designed to help students learn how to facilitate rapport, adherence, self-efficacy, and behavior change in clients, as well as designing programs to improve the five components of fitness.

  1. Explain exercise-related anatomy and kinesiology

    Identify anatomical structures
    Identify contraindications to exercise
    Distinguish effective methods for assessing joint position, stability, and mobility
    Determine the impact of joint position, stability, and mobility to posture and movement

  2. Design safe and effective exercise programs based on client needs and goals

    Criteria
    Apply the ACE Mover Method
    Apply the ACE IFT Model in professional practice
    Use fitness assessment equipment effectively
    Determine fitness assessment practices for varied populations
    Demonstrate foundational movement patterns (e.g., squat, single-leg, push, pull, rotation)
    Identify the principles and methods of training for cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility

  3. Describe the role and responsibilities of a certified personal trainer in the healthcare continuum

    Evaluate clients for safe participation in an exercise program
    Determine fitness assessment practices for a varied population

  4. Explain principles of exercise physiology

    Identify risk factors for cardiovascular and other chronic diseases or conditions for effective risk stratification and exercise participation

    Criteria
    Determine dietary evaluation methods, purposes, inherent risks, and benefits that are within the personal trainer’s professional scope of practice
