Description
Conduct hair analysis, personalizing scalp and hair treatments based on client needs; complete hair conditioning treatments; create blow-dry styles; and braid hair according to client needs.

    Apply a hot towel or other heat source to enhance product penetration
    Follow processing time recommendations
    Hair is rinsed thoroughly without leaving any residual product

  3. Braid hair

    Determine hair qualities prior to braiding
    Determine type of braid to best match client request
    Recommend braid style based on facial features
    Separate sections using straight lines
    Section sizes match the desired style
    Braid shows consistent tension
    Braid is firm enough to secure the style but not too tight to cause discomfort or scalp stress
    Braids and twists are secured at the ends to prevent unraveling
    Braiding is completed within specified timeframe

  4. Practice creating Afros, twists, and locs

    Afro shape is balanced, symmetrical, and well-defined according to style requested
    Afro taper blend is seamless
    Afro part (if applicable) is crisp, straight or curved as intended, and evenly sectioned
    Afro is picked/combed out and styled to maximize volume and texture
    Twists are uniform in size, tension, and direction from root to tip
    Transition from twisted/coiled hair to the cut area is clearly defined
    Twist sections and parts are neat and uniform
    You use effective tension to secure the twist without causing damage or thinning
    Twist ends are finished to prevent unraveling
    Locs are uniform in size (diameter) and consistent throughout the head, if applicable
    Partings for locs (e.g., square, brick-lay) are clean, consistent, and clearly defined at the scalp
    Incorporate new growth with effective tension to prevent slippage or breakage
    Locs have a clean, neat appearance with all loose hair incorporated, resulting in a tight root

  5. Practice applying hairpieces, wigs, and/or wefts
