Description
Continues development of students’ design thinking. Deliverables and graphics focus on proper production of architectural construction documents using AutoCAD and SketchUp. Students create, document, and present simple design projects as a framework to achieve outcomes.

Course Competencies (Course Outcomes)
  1. Exercise appropriate network and cloud-based file management

  2. Convey design concepts, materials, and shade and shadow using hand drawing techniques

  3. Visualize preliminary design ideas via multiple means of expression (i.e. sketches diagrams, collages, models, etc.)

  4. Apply the concepts of order and hierarchy to solve design problems

  5. Analyze a portion of the exterior of a commercial building, showing proportion

  6. Classify the elements of an architectural building program

  7. Document the solution to a small design project in a construction document style to a design development level using industry standard software.

  8. Practice documenting annotating a design project solution in a construction document format commensurate with industry standards

  9. Design a small architecture project using principles of sustainability.

  10. Read, navigate, and interpret architectural construction documents

  11. Review and critique the design work of peers
