Description
Writing Foundations 2 Survey is an individualized course and is a continuation of Writing Foundations 1 Survey.  It is a preparatory course for higher-level basic skills writing courses.  Course content focuses on paragraph development, capitalization/punctuation, spelling, and writing conventions.  Computer assisted instruction will be used to further improve language skills.  Students will also write paragraphs with details and examples; reasons; time order/sequence words and develop a business letter of complaint.

    you remove unrelated sentences from a paragraph at an acceptable level per the rubric.

  2. Apply rules of capitalization and punctuation.

    you apply basic capitalization and punctuation rules at a minimum of 70% accuracy.
    you use legible cursive writing.

  3. Apply spelling rules.

    Criteria
    you spell multi-syllable sight words (such as Fry List of 400 words) at a minimum of 70% accuracy.
    you recognize the correct spelling of common homonyms (their, there, they're; to, too, two; here, hear, etc.) at a minimum of 70% accuracy.
    you verify spelling using technical and/or print resources.

  4. Demonstrate Writing Conventions

    you use the six parts of a business letter at an acceptable level per the rubric.
