Course Information
Description
This reading and writing course is theme-based, covering topics related to health, family, community, civics and government, housing and transportation, and consumerism and money. Reading skills include: vocabulary development, identify the main idea/supporting details, compare/contrast, identify cause/effect, distinguish fact from opinion, make inferences, and draw conclusions. Students write emails, personal narratives, summaries, explanations, descriptions, and a letter to the editor related to readings. Students build paragraph development skills along with targeted grammar and usage skills as needed.
