Description
Course competencies include pipe and pipe fitting blueprint symbols and other technical information found on pipe prints.  Apprentices will examine isometric and multi-view drawings; dimensions; and process pipe drawings symbols.  Drawing and sketching skills will be further developed.

    apprentice sketches symbols for pipe fittings according to industry standards
    apprentice references fitting charts used to obtain welding fittings and flange dimensions
    apprentice describes the components found on multi-view drawings
    apprentice illustrates simple piping assemblies using the multi-view standards
    apprentice relates dimensions found on blueprints to quality

  2. Compare how valves and measuring instruments are shown on industrial prints

    apprentice explains the three functions performed by valves
    apprentice sketches each of the symbols used to represent valves and measurement instruments on prints
    apprentice sketches missing valves and instruments in flow diagrams

  3. Illustrate how pumps, tanks, and piping equipment are represented in prints and drawings

    apprentice identifies symbols which represent tanks
    apprentice identifies symbols used to depict piping equipment on industrial prints

    apprentice lists the information found on the bill of material
    apprentice references equipment specifications and technical information found on industrial blueprints
    apprentice draws a simple piping layout with at least one tank, pump and related equipment
    apprentice submits drawings and related information to the instructor for review and feedback

  4. Interpret drawings and plans for pipe and fitting assemblies

    apprentice converts an isometric pipe assembly into a single line and double line sketch
    apprentice lists what is included in an elevation drawing and how that aids pipefitters

    apprentice shows equipment and pipe symbols in sketches and drawings
    apprentice submits work to the instructor for review and feedback
