Course Information
Description
Provides instructional material for plumbing apprentices to develop the ability to interpret trade blueprints and to plan the installation of the required plumbing. Skills covered include identifying blueprint features, interpreting specifications, reading blueprint for the purpose of layout work, listing material from print, and coordinating installation of piping with other trades. Blueprint reading practice will be offered while working with an actual print.

  3. Read blueprint for purpose of layout work

    learner cross references floor plans to sectional and elevation views
    learner obtains necessary information required for layout procedures
    learner coordinates plans to all plumbing aspects
    learner coordinates plans or specifications to shop drawing

  4. Coordinate installation of piping with other trades
    Criteria
    learner identifies installation sequence required by all trades
    learner recognizes right of way for priority of space
    learner locates details of plumbing rooms for dimension rough in

  5. List material from print
    Criteria
    learner cross references specifications to plumbing material needs
    list includes number and type of pipe footage, fittings, valves, sleeves, fixtures, and hangers for a specific area
    list includes number and size of penetrations through fire rated walls and floors for a specific area
    learner reads a plot plan
