Description
Course provides apprentices with a chance to compare fasteners and their uses, analyze fastener failures, and install mechanical fasteners. Formerly module C-3 for related instruction in the MMMP apprenticeship program.

  1. Examine and identify different fasteners and their uses

    Criteria
    apprentice matches a specific fastener to its correct application
    apprentice clearly explains the application for a given fastener

  2. Remove fastener and analyze failures
    Assessment Strategies
    conditions under which you will demonstrate your competence will be established by the course instructor.
    Criteria
    apprentice identifies the correct removal procedures
    apprentice selects the correct tool(s) for the fastener removal task
    apprentice accurately describes why a fastener failed
    apprentice uses the correct tools according to safe and standard practices

  3. Install mechanical fasteners
    Assessment Strategies
    conditions under which you will demonstrate your competence will be established by the course instructor.
    Criteria
    apprentice complies with all safety procedures
    apprentice installs various fasteners according to technical instructions and or standard practice
