Description
This course explores reading prints commonly used by millwrights and machine maintenance workers.  Course competencies include comparing the types of prints, interpreting structural drawings, identifying parts from prints, and develops apprentice sketching drawing skills.

Course Competencies
  1. Examine different types of prints
    Criteria
    apprentice identifies print type without error
    apprentice can describe the uses of a particular print

  2. Interpret structural drawings
    Criteria
    apprentice explains the rules of layout
    apprentice differentiates basic symbols and their meanings
    apprentice identifies different views on various drawing types
    apprentice uses the terms related to drawing and sketching without error

  3. Evaluate a part from drawing information
    Criteria
    apprentice relates information from a drawing to the actual component or system
    apprentice relates information from the component or system to a drawing
    apprentice interprets the function of the part from the drawing
    apprentice determines if the part is correct by reference to the drawing

  4. Create a sketch or drawing from a specific part assembly or layout
    Criteria
    apprentice selects the best sketch type for a given application
    apprentice sketch has all necessary dimensioning to applicable standard
    apprentice sketch has all necessary nomenclature to applicable standard
    apprentice sketch has all necessary symbols to applicable standard
