Course Information
Description
This course provides the Mold Maker apprentice with their final experience in the related instruction portion of their apprenticeship. The apprentice will design a cavity mold and a core and cavity mold using either manual drafting or computer software to complete these projects.  This course provides related instruction for the tool and die, stamping die and mold makers apprenticeships.

  1. Design a cavity mold during a project selected by the trade or instructor
    Assessment Strategies
    Capstone Project
    Criteria
    apprentice creates a part piece drawing
    apprentice interprets supplier resources or other reference materials approved by the instructor
    apprentice uses manual drafting tools or CAD or CAD/CAM software
    apprentice creates their own original design
    apprentice calculates piece part shrinkage for the material selected
    apprentice documents the sizes, materials type(s), and the conditions for fabricated parts
    apprentice specifies size, fit, shut offs, locations and other design considerations
    apprentice creates a 2-view assembly drawing
    apprentice creates detailed drawings of fabricated parts
