Description
This course provides the stamping die maker apprentice with the opportunity to design from part specifications two elementary stamping dies.  This course provides related instruction for the tool and die, stamping die and mold makers apprenticeship.

    Criteria
    apprentice designs a blanking die from piece part specifications selected by the instructor
    apprentice interprets given supplier resources, or other reference materials approved by your instructor
    apprentice creates a bill of materials
    apprentice uses manual drafting tools or CAD or CAD/CAM software as specified by the instructor
    apprentice blanking and forming die drawings conform to the references and requirements that will be supplied
    apprentice calculates tonnage requirements
    apprentice documents the sizes, materials type(s), and the conditions for fabricated parts
    apprentice documents the purchased parts
    apprentice applies design information on the drawing(s)

    apprentice identifies part thickness and material type
    apprentice calculates bend allowance to produce flat blank length
    apprentice documents the sizes, materials type(s), and the conditions for fabricated parts
    apprentice documents the purchased parts
    apprentice specifies clearances, angles, location(s), and sizes
    apprentice applies design information on the drawing(s)
