  3. Summarize the important installation procedures for a PLC in a typical industrial environment
    Assessment Strategies
    by creating a chart showing the important installation procedures for a PLC in a typical industrial environment
    Criteria
    the charts horizontal axis shows each of the "important" installation procedures for a PLC in a typical industrial environment (as defined in class)
    the charts vertical axis shows a row for proper grounding, methods to reduce vibration, and enclosure environments
    apprentice has the chart completely filled in
    apprentice information the chart is 100% accurate

  4. Apply troubleshooting principles to Programmable Logic Controller programs
    Assessment Strategies
    by repairing defective PLC programs
    given operating software and a workstation
    given references used in the field
    Criteria
    apprentice can locate, or describe exactly how to locate, manufacturer's troubleshooting references for PLC programs
    apprentice gives a clear explanation of how the PLC should be functioning when functioning properly
    apprentice lists possible causes for a fault and isolates or shows how they would isolate a fault in the PLC program
    apprentice explains the program test procedure and completes the actual PLC program correction
    apprentice provides an accurate description of the program repair procedure including references and tools required to correct a defective program
