Course Information
Description
This course is designed to be delivered as continuing education for electricians. The purpose is to increase the awareness of the hazards associated with electricity, the Code requirements associated with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and National Fire Protection Association 70e and how these requirements are recognized as law.

  1. Increase awareness of hazards associated with electricity
    Assessment Strategies
    Group activity, worksheet, discussion
    Criteria
    Utilize OSHA and NFPA 70e codes to make informed decisions when working on electrical circuits, energized and not-energized
    Recognize and avoid hazards commonly associated with the use of electricity
    Determine uses of electrical “Hot Work Permits”
    Select proper P.P.E.
    Select voltage rated tools needed for working on energized circuits
    Identify lock-out/tag-out procedures
    Identify legal consequences of working on energized equipment in an unsafe manner
