Course Information
Description
This applications class builds on CNC concepts learned in previous classes. Emphasis is on CNC Turning Center, CNC Milling machine, and CNC Wire set up and operation. Students will produce parts that they have modeled and programmed in Manufacturing w/Solid Modeling 1 and 2 as well as instructor provided programs.

    you set up a CNC machining center using techniques learned in previous classes
    you load your program

  2. Manufacture 2D Lathe Components
    Assessment Strategies
    by submitting Kant Twist Clamp
    Criteria
    you manufacture your assigned pieces on the turning center
    you work as a team
    you produce enough piece part for the entire class that meets specifications
    you distribute the pieces to all students in your class

  3. Manufacture 2D wire piece part
    Assessment Strategies
    by submitting wire piece part
    Criteria
    you set up the wire edm
    you load and verify your program
    you execute the program
    you produce a piece part that meets specifications

  4. Manufacture 3D piece part
    Assessment Strategies
    by submitting 3D piece parts
    Criteria
    you rough piece part using 3D roughing toolpaths
    you finish piece part using 3D finishing toolpaths
    your part meets size and surface finish specifications

  5. Manufacture stamp die components
    Assessment Strategies
    by submitting a stamped washer produced from your die
    Criteria
    you turn the piercing punch on the turning center to specified sizes
    you turn the blanking punck on the turning center to specified sizes
    you mill the punch holder on the machining center to specified sizes
    you mill the die block on the machining center to specified sizes
    you mill the stripper plate on the machining center to specified sizes
