Description
Advanced haircutting builds on the techniques used in cosmetology and barbering. Students learn the art of razor haircutting, dry haircutting, textured hair, blending and tapering with clippers and shears.

  1. 1.    Consult with the client for a haircut
    Assessment Strategies
    during class by successfully completing a written multiple choice exam
    to a minimum of 70% accuracy
    Criteria
    consultation includes discussing client expectations and the limitations of the client's hair consultation includes a discussion regarding client's lifestyle and resulting maintenance for haircut consultation includes reviewing client hair history consultation includes recommendations for home hair care methods and products consultation includes disclosing cost of services
    you inform the client that he/she cannot treat diseased skin unless under the direction of a physician (if appropriate)
    you obtain the consent of the client or the legal guardian of the client prior to a haircut
    client signs a release form
    you make a reasonable effort to safely comply with the client's requests
    you complete the consultation in 10 minutes

  2. 2.    Select tools, implements, and equipment for haircutting

  3. 3.    Prepare for a haircut service

    you wash hands with soap and running water before touching the client
    you complete the preparation for the hair cutting service within 5 minutes
