Course Information
Description
In the CNC programming class, students will develop the ability to generate component programs utilizing computer software. Students will generate shape geometry, create parts, develop nests and cut parts.

Course Competencies
  1. Demonstrate proper inspection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
    Assessment Strategies
    Written test, lab performance evaluation
    Criteria
    You achieve a 100% on a written general shop safety test
    You are observed using the proper PPE correctly in the fabrication lab

  2. Perform layout operations for fabricated assemblies
    Assessment Strategies
    Software performance evaluation, lab performance evaluation
    Criteria
    You achieve a minimum of 70% on a software performance evaluation related to development of components using the SolidWorks SheetMetal software
    You achieve a minimum of 70%  on a software performance evaluation related to development of nests, optimum sheet utilization, tabbing, and remnant creation using the ProNest software
    You use SolidWorks SheetMetal software to layout components to be cut
    Layout contains all features and conforms to the tolerances specified on the drawing

  3. Perform cutting operations for fabricated assemblies
    Assessment Strategies
    Lab performance evaluation
    Criteria
    You safely operate cutting equipment
    You set-up the CNC Water Jet and CNC Plasma per specification for type and material thickness
    You perform routine maintenance related to the inspection and replacement of cutting consumables
    You load programs, nest sheets for optimal sheet utilization, and edit cutting conditions for optimal cut quality and productivity

  4. Inspect product

    You verify components and their conformance to drawing requirements
