Course Information
Description
This course provides an introduction to the identification, safe use and care of hand and portable power tools, especially those used for finish carpentry. Lab work includes the construction of cornhole games using techniques learned in class.This course fulfills the third and final credit of the Fundamentals of Construction program requirement for students in the Construction & Remodeling program.

    Process rough sawn lumber to accurately milled boards
    Adjust and use a stationary planer to create parallel surfaces on wood
    Adjust and use a joiner to create a flat surface on wood
    Use a table saw and miter saw to mill lumber to accurate dimensions

  3. Construct joinery for woodworking projects

    Project is constructed using correct joinery
    Joinery is accurate and strong
    Determine required wood fasteners from plans and drawings
    Select wood fasteners appropriate for the wood joint

    Mill mortise and tenon joinery
