Course Information
Description
Designed to mimic a jobsite, this course will introduce the learner to various methods of installing face frame and frameless cabinetry and countertops into an existing space.

  1. Install base and wall cabinets

    Criteria
    Work is performed in a safe manner
    Cabinets are level and plum to 1/8” over 96” and properly anchored
    Selected fasteners meet instructor specifications

  2. Scribe cabinets to walls
    Assessment Strategies
    Skill Demonstration
    Criteria
    Work is performed in a safe manner
    Demonstrate accuracy to 1/64”
    Result is aesthetically pleasing
    Selection and use of scribe strips meets instructor specifications

  3. Install countertops
    Assessment Strategies
    Skill Demonstration
    Criteria
    Work is performed in a safe manner
    Use spiling and/or template techniques to fit
    Demonstrate accuracy to 1/64”
    Selection of fasteners meets instructor specifications
    Countertop is supported within tolerance specified by the instructor

  4. Respond to jobsite scenarios

    Written Product/Test, Scenario
    Criteria
    Describe typical content on an appliance specification sheet
    Identify common utilities
    Identify necessary permits
