Course Information
Description
This course will provide students to acquire knowledge of permanent waving.   Course competencies include hair relaxing applications, reformation curls, chemical blow-out services, and safety and sanitation related to chemical texture services. This class will be taught by the following methods: lecture, discussion, demonstration, and hands-on performance.

    In the classroom/lab without references, according to the chemical texture services rubrics, perform hair and scalp analysis on a manikin, in instructor’s time frame
    Criteria
    you complete hair and scalp analysis according to chemical texture service rubrics, scoring a C or higher
    you adhere to safety and sanitation procedures for hair and scalp analysis
    you apply the factors of hair analysis for chemical services
    you apply anatomy and physiology of hair and scalp
    you demonstrate consultation questioning techniques

  2. Follow safety and sanitation procedures
    Assessment Strategies
    In the classroom/lab without references, follow safety and sanitation procedures according to the chemical texture service rubrics
    Criteria
    you score of C or higher is achieved on the chemical texture service rubrics
    you adhere to blood protocol procedures
    you follow safety and decontamination procedures
    you demonstrate the proper cleaning and disinfecting of all tools and equipment
    you demonstrate consultation questioning techniques

  3. Explain the physical and chemical actions that take place during chemical texture services

    Criteria
