Course Information
Description
In Sculpture 2 the students will strengthen and refine the skills they learned in sculpture 1 through technique-based assignments, demonstrations, and research.  All students must participate in class while sharing their experience in researching and critiquing other works of art. Lab safety and cleanliness are essential in this lab course, as well as attendance and effort.

Course Competencies (Course Outcomes)
  1. Using forming techniques such as pinching, cylinder building, coil building, slab work and molding with surface treatments such as glazing, under-glazing and printing techniques to make successful and innovative sculpture

  2. Kiln stacking

  3. Developing a glaze testing project and using the results on a piece

  4. Glazing

  5. Developing problem solving and creative techniques necessary to do work with a material that involves multiple steps

  6. Developing an awareness of local, global, cultural and historical aspects of three-dimensional arts

  7. Research a period of art history, report on this and respond in a contemporary way with a ceramic sculpture
