Course Information
Description
This course will cover the skills, rules, and strategies of basketball, pickleball, and soccer. It emphasizes individual and team offensive and defensive techniques as well as concepts of team organization and play. Considerable time is spent playing the game. Teams will be divided as equally as possible between gender and skill level. The course is held at Truax on the soccer pitch and gymnasium, depending on the sport and weather.

  1. Examine the fundamentals of basketball, pickleball, and soccer

    Describe the rules and regulations of each sport
    Identify the player positions in each sport
    Explain the elements of the game of each sport
    Explain the required equipment needed to play each sport

  2. Prepare for each sport

    Criteria
    Select clothing that is effective for physical play
    Perform effective warm-up drills prior to playing each sport
    Implement conditioning exercises for each sport

  3. Demonstrate skills for each sport

    Criteria
    Perform effective dribbling, passing, shooting, catching, and rebounding skills in basketball
    Perform effective hitting and serving skills in pickleball
    Perform effective dribbling, ball control, and kicking skills in soccer
    Perform correct offensive and defensive skills in each sport
    Implement offensive and defensive strategies in support of team

  4. Apply leadership skills as a sport team member
