Course Information
Description
This course surveys diverse musical traditions worldwide, examining how cultures create, perform, and value music. Students develop critical listening skills to identify regional styles and connect them to cultural contexts. Topics include music from Sub-Saharan Africa, Indigenous Americas, Latin America, India, China, and Indonesia, along with an independent research project on a chosen musical culture.
