10806100 Principles of Animal Biology Workshop Course Information Description A companion to (10-806-105), Principles of Animal Biology, this workshop allows students to develop and enhance skills related to problem solving in animal biology. Total Credits 1 Course Competencies (Course Outcomes) Develop listening and note taking skills Assessment Strategies by successfully completing outline and word lists by reading Listening and Note Taking chapter in text by successfully completing exercises 5 and 8 in text Criteria learner outlines chapter of biology textbook using appropriate technique learner develops word lists for chapter of biology textbook and defines these words learner constructs note taking plan based upon individual learning style Develop study sessions Assessment Strategies by forming successful study groups by reading and successfully completing Study Sessions chapter in text by comparing and contrasting an understanding of biological material before and after developing preparatory and review strategies Criteria learner discusses the importance of preparing for lecture/laboratory and reviewing lecture/laboratory material learner discusses the importance of study groups, study material, and daily and weekly review Analyze alternative study methodologies Assessment Strategies by reading and successfully completing appropriate chapters in text (appropriate chapters based upon student need and preference) by choosing and utilizing the study methodology that best fits student's needs Criteria learner discusses alternative study strategies (including but not limited to): computer graphics and analyzing figures/tables, concept mapping, flowcharts, flash cards, review sheets learner determines which study strategies work for student
