Course Information
Description
This course covers the skills used in the building design process. It is considered a capstone design studio which integrates skills gained in your first three semesters. Project may involve community-based and/or non-profit organizations and actual client interaction. Learners solve architectural building design problems through site design, massing, program analysis, building circulation, space flow diagrams, adjacency studies, and building context.

Design a multi-story commercial building that is in alignment with the basic concepts of the commercial building code including accessibility as part of a team

Assess building materials and systems based on performance, cost, and environmental factors

Apply sustainable design strategies to the design of a building

Interview a client to determine project requirements and program elements for a building design

Implement laser scanning as a mean to capture existing conditions of an existing site and/or structure

Demonstrate basic ReCap software skills

Integrate an existing point cloud model into the design and presentation process of a building

Create presentation drawings and renderings for an architectural design proposal

Review and critique the design work of peers
