Course Information
Description
Students are introduced to a variety of architectural digital rendering techniques and workflows for a variety of industry leading platforms. Workflows for producing architectural graphics for multiple project phases from programming and conceptual design to photorealistic rendering will be explored. Students will gain real world rendering workflows for projects in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk 3DS Max and SketchUp.

  1. Use digital rendering platforms

    Criteria
    You choose a platform that matches project guidelines (Examples include, but may not be limited to SketchUp, Lumion, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk 3DS Max, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator)
    You maneuver through the platform user interface to find and complete key commands
    You organize layers, views, and files generated by the platform
    You incorporate lighting techniques, placement of cameras, and creation of moods

  2. Create digital renders of 3D architectural models in multiple sizes, types, and qualities

    You use a digital rendering platform
    You create, edit, and save render export settings
    You export renders to specified size and quality settings
    You create 360 degree panorama renders
    Render successfully represents conceptual, atmospheric, and material intentions

  3. Create animations and walkthrough renders

    Criteria
    You use animation features in a digital rendering platform
    Animation meets length requirements as specified by instructor
    Animation includes required elements of entourage as specified by instructor

  4. Execute post production of digital renders and movies

    Criteria
    You use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
    You resize images for printing to different sizes
    You print renderings to specified sizes, scales, and orientations
    You adjust levels, saturation, color, and lighting
    Digital renders and movies include text added during post production

  5. Share digital architectural renders

    Criteria
    You use online portfolio software
    You post digital renders, panoramas, and movies to an online portfolio
    You upload movie files to YouTube.com
