Description
An introduction to the engineering materials and their properties used in industry. Material testing methods and their relevance to design applications are covered, along with inspection techniques using precision instruments. In addition, this course begins the introduction of a computer aided manufacturing environment.

    Recognize different types of gages and uses.

    Recognize optical inspection instruments and uses.
    Measure using a portable inspection arm.

  3. Perform a layout for manufacturing

    Explain the purpose of a layout
    Identify common layout tools
    Convert Units between Decimal, Fractional and Metric.
    Identify angular measurement tools.
    Make a simple layout.

  4. Perform bench work techniques

    Determine Tap Drill size.
    Determine RPM’s.
    Demonstrate safe and correct use of bench tools.

  5. Apply CAM techniques using Mastercam®

    Create 2 dimensional geometry using Mastercam®.
    Trim, edit and modify geometry using Mastercam®
    Generate NC code using post processor.
    Manage and transfer NC code to the desired application.
    Verify results match intended outcomes.
