Course Information
Description
Evaluates compliance with documentation requirements, comparing standards from various accreditors. Learners will perform record completion processes, including quantitative and qualitative analysis, while monitoring compliance with documentation standards. Additionally, learners will utilize secondary data sources, manage the master patient index, and apply retention and destruction policies for electronic health information. This course equips learners with essential skills for effective data management in healthcare.

  1. EVALUATE compliance with documentation requirements of the health record

    Criteria
    compare the documentation requirements for given accreditors with those for the Medicare Conditions of Participation
    determine which documentation requirements are most stringent
    conduct qualitative analysis to ensure that that health data meets the characteristics of quality health data

  2. PERFORM record completion processes

    perform quantitative analysis of health records
    perform deficiency/delinquency procedures
    differentiate between quantitative and qualitative analysis
    perform qualitative analysis  of health records

  3. MONITOR compliance with documentation standards (accreditation and licensure)

  4. UTILIZE secondary data sources

    utilize health data elements that correspond to given data sets
    collect and report secondary health data

  5. MANAGE the master patient index
