Description
Explores interventions relative to major pediatric diagnoses seen in OT practice. Evaluation, treatment interventions, assistive technology and documentation are emphasized within the context of the child's occupations.

  1. Examine the service delivery models for OT within pediatrics

  11. Demonstrate documentation skills related to pediatric practice

    through completion of documentation tasks using case study, video, observations or other means
    through oral, written or graphic assessments

    you complete screens, checklists, standardized formats for the pediatric population
    you contribute oral or written information to the IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan) and the IEP (Individual Education Plan)
    you contribute written documentation for third party payer reimbursement
    you write components of a pediatric intervention plan

  12. Demonstrate documentation skills related to pediatric practice

    Criteria
    prepare a variety of documents including daily treatment notes, intervention plan, etc.
    document measurable intervention goals
    records include accurate and complete data
    utilize correct terminology including medical terminology, Practice Framework, approved abbreviations, etc.
    communicate the need and rationale for occupational therapy services
    conclusions and recommendations are logical, accurate, and feasible
    articulate the role of the OTA in discharge planning
    explore documentation in different practice settings
    examine the use of electronic documentation systems
    contribute oral or written information to the IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan) and the IEP (Individual Education Plan
