  1. Explore surgical interventions for vascular procedures
    Assessment Strategies
    by answering questions that require you to apply knowledge about this competency (Your instructor may require several written exams as a part of this course. You will be notified in advance.)
    by developing a surg tech plan for patients undergoing various types of vascular surgery
    Criteria
    plan includes the pathology (i.e. tumor, cancer, classifications) that prompts the diagnostic/surgical intervention
    plan includes a description of the surgical anatomy
    plan includes a description of the diagnostic and surgical intervention
    plan includes proper medical terminology
    plan includes the instruments, equipment, suturing materials and supplies needed for the procedure
    plan includes methods of anesthesia
    plan includes patient preparation and positioning
    plan includes role of the surgical technologist
    plan includes draping considerations
    plan includes the surgical approach
    plan includes the type of incision
    plan includes the sequence of the procedure
