Course Information
Description
Making the Cut is an orientation course designed to maximize the students understanding of the Barber/ Cosmetology Academy which is offered to waitlisted individuals prior to enrollment in the program. Students are introduced to the industry, receive an orientation to the program competencies, assessed on their preparedness, skill and abilities to ensure an educational match and increase the chance of successful program completion.

    You complete 4 equal quadrant partings
    You section hair with clean straight partings
    You subsection a 1 inch parting from bottom of the back right quadrant
    You subsection a 1 inch parting from the bottom of the back left quadrant
    You visualize what a zero degree hair cut looks like
    You wash your hands before starting
    You do not use a comb that has dropped on the floor
    You do not use a clip that has dropped on the floor
    You observe the danger of working with implements around the head

    Criteria
    You write a minimum of 1 personal goal for 1, 5 and 10 years (a total of 3 goals)
    You write a minimum of 1 professional goal 1, 5 and 10 years (a total of 3 goals)
    You describe goals as SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely)
    You include in each goal a strategy for attaining it. (3 personal-3 professional)
    You write a breakdown of your daily routine
    You identify when and where you eat, sleep, study, go to school, work, exercise-relax
    You list time wasters
    You write an alternative daily routine reflecting time waster observation
    You implement a new time management schedule
    You select a salon
    You choose a hair designer
