Description
Explore current trends and recent developments in the world of electricity.  Focus will be on renewable energy, commercial trends, residential trends, NEC code issues, electrical trade tools, electrical utility requirements, and basic installation activities.

  1. Examine current renewable energy sources being pursued commercially and residentially

  2. Identify current electrical trends for material or equipment being used or installed commercially and residentially

  3. Explore trends in tools being used in today’s electrical construction field

  4. Review common National Electrical Code violations and determine solutions using NFPA 70

  5. Describe local electrical utility company requirements for customer owned PV array installations
    Criteria
    Explain how financial incentives play a role in customer owned PV array installations
    Outline installation requirements determined by local electrical utility companies

  6. Apply installation skills for basic PV panels
    Assessment Strategies
    Skill demonstration - Array location lab, PV panel performance lab
    Criteria
    Demonstrate PV panel installation according to specifications provided by the instructor
