Course Information
Description
This 3-credit course examines the components of curriculum planning in early childhood education. Course competencies include: integrate strategies that support diversity and anti-bias perspectives; examine the critical role of play as it relates to curriculum planning; establish a developmentally appropriate environment; integrate Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) into curriculum; develop activity plans that promote child development and learning; develop curriculum plans that promote child development and learning across all content areas; analyze early childhood curriculum models.

Course Competencies
  1. Integrate strategies that support diversity and anti-bias perspectives.
    Assessment Strategies

    follow the guidelines of "Anti-bias Education for Young Children and Ourselves" or a similar anti-bias resource
    define Anti-Bias Education and how it relates to the way children learn, grow and develop
    identify equipment, materials and aesthetics of an environment that is inclusive and free of bias or stereotypes
    plan curriculum activities to address diversity and promote anti-bias perspectives

  2. Examine the critical role of play as it relates to curriculum planning
