Course Information
Description
Produce digital images using a camera; compare image formats, file types, and color modes. Set up a workflow process to import, edit, and export images efficiently; perform non-destructive editing and manage layers. Navigate files and folders within the Lightroom Library module. Compare digital images on-screen to inkjet prints. Photoshop and Lightroom Classic are used.

  1. Use the DSLR or Mirrorless cameras

    Criteria
    Use camera and flash essentials
    Demonstrate function of aperture priority or shutter speed priority
    Demonstrate effects of F-Stop (aperture setting) on depth of field and shutter speed on photographs
    Demonstrate effects of shutter speed on photographs
    Images are focused and exposed within normal range
    Images show variation in focus, blur, etc.

  2. Shoot photographs
    Assessment Strategies

    Criteria
    Use the DSLR or Mirrorless cameras
    Wide Shot: At least two images are wide shot (scene is established showing overall layout or structure)
    Color Story: Five images emphasize different dominant colors
    Macro World: Three to five images are macro or close-up shots showing details
    Light and Shadow: Two to three images use natural light creatively
    Human Interaction: One to three images are candid or posed shots of people interacting
    Patterns and Repetition: Two images are of repeating shapes or patterns in nature or design
    Unexpected Details: Two images are of something surprising, strange, or often overlooked

  3. Manipulate digital files, formats, and resolutions

    Images show technical skill, creativity, and workflow effectiveness

    Written document includes a brief summary (3–5 sentences) for each image
    Summary includes the original concept or intent behind the shot
    Summary includes the shooting setup (camera, lens, lighting, settings, etc.)
    Summary includes the editing process (software used, key adjustments, or creative choices)
    Images are submitted as high-resolution JPEGs or (TIFFs)
    Filenames are clear (e.g., Lastname_Firstname_Image1.jpg).
    Photos are exported in JPEG format
