Course Information
Description
This Advanced Screen Printing Workshop is focused on developing a method of producing a series of images that are related in some visual aspect. Emphasis will be put on concept, planning, and high-quality production of a series of silk-screen prints. Included will be further investigation into the use of specific inks, multiple layers of ink, screen mesh and stencil issues, various substrates and archival considerations, building on the skill-set from the Intro class.

Course Competencies
  1. Formulate a set of criteria for comparing visual relationships among multiple images.
    Assessment Strategies
    Written presentation of concept design criteria.
    Presentation of a color rendering of each concept in support of the citeria
    Criteria
    Report clearly describes the goals and the methods for creating a visual relationship among images.
    Learner presents a color rendering that shows in significant detail, the composition, the colors used and their placement.

  2. Create a concept for four prints that are related based on the criteria you have developed.
    Assessment Strategies
    Presentation of a minimum of two series concepts that meet the project criteria.
    Presentation of final print series concept renderings in a class critique.
    Criteria
    A concept for four prints is presented in written form. Descriptions are limited to two paragraphs and a bullet list of no more than ten items.
    Each submitted concept will be presented in a detailed color rendering.
    Each print concept will exhibit a high level of development including attention to color & composition.
    All concepts will be completed and copies submitted by the end of the fourth week of class, Sept. 20, 2013.
    Color renderings will be presented in a critique in the fourth class meeting, Sept. 19, 2013.
