Course Information
Description
This course is required for all students accepted into a Madison College sponsored semester-long Study Abroad program. It is designed as an introduction to and support of residence and study in another country. Students will learn cultural theories, learning styles, cross-cultural communication skills, and strategies for development of cross-cultural competencies. Students will participate in activities designed to increase their cultural awareness, cross-cultural sensitivity, and own adaptability to another culture. The course will facilitate the intense learning process that occurs when individuals are placed in a new cultural context and will challenge students to explore their own cultural assumptions. The course may not be dropped.
