Description
This course provides both information about meeting facilitation and an environment for practice. The ultimate goal is for students to learn to conduct effective meetings.

  1. Identify procedures for planning an initial group meeting

    You assemble sample materials for starting a group meeting and place them in a portfolio

    CREATING a draft of a committee purpose
    DRAFTING a charter that includes roles and responsibilities of committee members
    RECRUITING committee members and create a membership roster
    DRAFTING a meeting calendar
    PREPARING a process for establishing committee ground rules
    SELECTING an approach to define the recipients of the work of the committee

  2. Facilitate an initial group meeting

    You lead a group through its initial meeting

    CREATING a meeting agenda
    CONDUCTING introductions of committee members
    REVIEWING committee responsibilities
    ASSIGNING meeting responsibilities for time-keeping and record-keeping
    LEADING a round-robin process for establishing committee ground rules
    USING a sun diagram to define the recipients of the work of the committee
    FACILITATING consensus about the work of the committee
    LEADING the group to consensus about next steps for the committee
    CONDUCTING a brief meeting evaluation with the committee members

  5. Collect an array of tools and techniques to successfully intervene when there are problems in the group
