Course Information
Description
Students will create garment sketches using Adobe software with product specifications and fit comments to apparel for a target market. Students will present a technical specifications packet of apparel based on research for a target audience as it is applied to the sketches.

Course Competencies
  1. Examine technical design skill requirements
    Criteria
    Identify standardized body dimensions
    Locate a generic spec sheet and ASTM body measuring points

  2. Prepare a workstation for measuring for each basic measurement point

  3. Measure specific garments, with applicable measurement points on basic garment spec sheets and sample spec sheets

  4. Measure children’s and menswear garments, using proper measurement points needed for each garment on basic garment sheets and sample spec sheets

  5. Explore fitting of common fit rules and fit problems

  6. Complete a grading spec sheet for production in misses/women’s size, children’s and menswear grading guidelines, and tolerance allowances

  7. Prepare a Technical Specifications Packet

  8. Present a Technical Specifications Packet
