Description
Integrate skills in an approved clinical setting of your choice to develop proficiency in animal nursing techniques and procedures. Final evaluation is done in partnership with the clinic and a Madison College instructor.

  4. Perform laboratory skills associated with various procedures

  5. Perform surgical and nursing care on animals

    Assist in husbandry, nutrition, therapeutic and dentistry techniques appropriate to the animal species and clinic
    Assist in the care of animal patients in surgical preparation, during anesthesia, and in post-operative care
    Provide surgical assistance during common surgical procedures
    Provide the appropriate instruments and supplies
    Assist with radiograph images of patient animals
    Assist in administering drugs as designated by veterinarian
    Follow established animal care emergency procedures
    Differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate dietary components for various life stages and therapeutic regimens
    Describe client education regarding home care
    Demonstrate a commitment to high quality care

  6. Assist with inventory, maintenance and cleaning within the clinic environment
