Course Information
Description
This course introduces the student to the hydraulic systems found on 10 through 60 series John Deere Tractors. The component configuration and operational characteristics of these tractors will be introduced. Students will service, test and rebuild the a radial piston pump, S.C.V. and other components of the hydraulic system. Students will follow the technical manuals diagnostic procedures to troubleshoot hydraulic system problems found on these tractors. Combine, Skid Steer and Self-Propelled Forage Harvester hydraulics will also be introduced.

  1. Solve mathematical problems of hydraulic systems

  2. Read hydraulic system schematics

  3. Summarize hydraulic construction and operation of pumps, valves and actuators

  4. Identify location of hydraulic system components on the 10 through 60 series John Deere tractors

  5. Disassemble and reassemble pumps, valves, and selected other hydraulic components

  6. Install gauges and perform system tests

  7. Perform hydraulic flow test on selected equipment

  8. Practice personal safety when working with hand and power tools
