Course Information
Description
This course provides instruction in the theory of operation, adjustment and service of planting equipment. Students will learn the operation and service of corn planters and grain drills. Emphasis is given to how the corn planter seed meters work and how the attachments operate. In addition, the course also provides information on the theory, operation, adjustment and service of planting and seeding equipment.

  7. Recondition row unit assembly

    Disassemble and inspect the row unit assembly
    Test the row unit assembly on a test stand
    Replace the row unit assembly
    Row unit is placed back on the planter and the unit is adjusted

  8. Examine sprayer application equipment

    Identify safety procedures for using lifting and support equipment

    Disassemble and assemble a spray body

    Calibrate a sprayer for a given application rate.
    Describe principles of operation of a variable rate spray applicator
