  1. Demonstrate safe work habits while in a shop environment

    Criteria
    Wear steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, long sleeved top, uniform type pants or jeans
    Clothing is not loose or ripped
    Jewelry does not interfere with shop tasks
    Hair is tied back to prevent accident with moving equipment
    Clear shop area for safely raising and supporting vehicle or equipment
    Identify safety items and hazards, including flammable hazards

  2. Demonstrate effective use of shop tools and equipment/tooling

    Criteria
    Identify common shop tools such as wrenches, sockets, drills, grinders, welders, measuring tools and their intended uses
    Operate hand tools, power tools, and special tooling
    Use a torque wrench and any torque accessories
    Tool use meets shop safety guidelines
    Maintain tools following shop procedures

  3. Examine the requirements and working conditions for employment in the agriculture equipment industry

  4. Identify fasteners and fittings used in the assembly, plumbing, and fluid systems of agricultural equipment

    Identify common materials used in fasteners and fittings such as steel, stainless steel, brass
    Measure bolts, fittings, and nuts
    Identify sources for torque specifications

  5. Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) electronic service and parts information

  6. Jack, lift and/or crib equipment

    Use overhead crane to lift components of equipment being serviced
    Conduct pre-lift checks before going under a piece of equipment
    Assess load weight, capacity, and distribution
    Ensure stability
    Return jacking, lifting, and cribbing equipment to storage areas when finished

  7. Explain procedures for identifying, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials

    Criteria
    Identify personal protective equipment (PPE) specific to hazardous or flammable materials found in a shop environment
