Description
Discusses the specific skills needed for particular areas and careers, ethical issues and the business of biotechnology including the basics of intellectual property law. Each student gives a presentation on their occupational work experience.

  2. Assess professional non-technical skills demanded by employers in various sectors of the biotechnology industry

    Criteria
    Compare professional non-technical skills biotechnology employers demand
    Identify individual professional non-technical strengths in various biotechnology sectors
    Communicate individual professional non-technical strengths to another individual in verbal and written form

  3. Practice skills necessary to successfully navigate the job search process
    Assessment Strategies
    Resume, Cover Letter, and/or Mock Interview
    Criteria
    Resume and cover letter clearly identify personal technical skills that complement several job descriptions
    Resume and cover letter clearly identify personal professional non-technical skills that complement several job descriptions
    Resumes and cover letters are fine-tuned for each job description
    Mock interviews practice the STAR, or similar, format of behavioral interviews

  4. Create individual professional career pathway goals

    Explore factors to consider when creating career and professional development plans
